Date Of Birth: November 27, 1934
Date Of Death: December 7, 2010
Samira Matly was born November 27, 1934, in Zahle, Lebanon, and departed this life on December 7, 2010, after a courageous 5-year battle with ovarian cancer. It was a beautiful good bye for her, with her 7 children and beloved life long friend and husband of 56 years, Michael, around her.
Samira loved Jesus Christ, and any one who met her knew she had a personal relationship with him. Not by a cross around her neck, not by the words she spoke, but by the way she lived her life on a daily basis and the impeccable way she treated not only her immediate family, but anyone she knew.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy include her husband, Michael, sons John (Mona), George (Cindy), Joseph (Rima) and Jacob (Patricia) Matly, daughters Lina (Adel) Akhnoukh, Mona (George) Hanna, and Joumanna (Raed) Morcos, 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She will be waked at St. George Orthodox Christian Church (4020 N. Sherman Dr., 46226) from 4-8 pm Wednesday, Dec. 8, with a Trisagion service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10 am Thursday, Dec. 9, at St. George Church on. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. George Orthodox Church.
